About Me

My name is Michelle and I am the seamstress behind Isla Sewing Co. I started sewing in 2017 a few months after having my beautiful daughter, Isla. I have always had a passion to create but always jumped around dabbling in different hobbies...until my husband gifted me a sewing machine for my first Mother's Day. πŸ₯°
I started making waterproof bibs for Isla. She was such a little drooler and would always have a moisture rash. I found some waterproof material and made my own pattern and thus began my love of sewing as the bibs actually made my life so much easier and Isla's rashes never came back!Β
Since I started sewing, I've never looked back. I love wandering around fabric stores, always on the hunt for modern and usually floral fabrics. I often say collecting fabric is one hobby, and sewing is another. πŸ˜‰
I have always struggled with skin sensitivity to plastic pads, and decided to start making cloth pads in January 2020. I never realized that cloth pads were an option out there and wished I had been introduced sooner as I know it would have made such a huge impact and difference in my life growing up. I hope that by continuing to make these pads, I can make a difference for so many others out there looking for alternatives to disposables!
Come follow me on Instagram (@islasewingco), where I'll show you a glimpse of my day to day sewing processes, a photo or two of my kids, and definitely funny and relatable memes; because life is too short to be serious all the time. 😜
